Lenkeuwa Amos Ltanapua

Date of birth: Amos was born in 2003
KCPE results: 330
Family: Amos has three brothers and one sister. He comes from a very traditional nomadic family; moving frequently during the drought periods to find pasture and water for their animals that are their only source of basic need. His parents lived in Mewua before later settling in Leangata, which is about 15 kilometers from Ndonyo Wasin village.
Schooling: Amos is the first and only person in his family to go to school. In 2007, he attended Mewua nomadic preschool. The preschool took place under a thorn tree with a blackboard propped against the tree trunk. His teacher was a warrior with just four years of schooling who was dedicated to helping future generations. Amos’ father had enough man power to look after the animals and decided to take Amos to school. Amos loved school the moment he was taken and did very well. His teacher made sure his father sent him to Ndonyo Wasin Primary School after two years in the preschool. Amos is an excellent student and has always been at the top of his class. He is a great reader and he says he has read every book in the library! He is hardworking, disciplined and serious about his studies. He also has a lot of common sense and makes wise choices. Last year he was on the football team and sometimes on weekends, he likes going up the white hill in Ndonyo Wasin to relax and meditate.
He had marks of 330 in his KCSE exams and was offered a place at Arnesen’s Boys school, a top tier high school in the country.
