Lenuure Isaac

Isaac Lenure was born in 2004 and is the first of seven children in his family. Neither his mother nor his father attended school and they both live the traditional Samburu lifestyle in Nessesai village. When Isaac was young, he was responsible for looking after the animals for his family. However, there was severe drought in 2008 and 2009 and nearly all his family’s livestock died. What was a great tragedy for the family ended up being a great blessing for Isaac. After the drought, Isaac’s father decided it was time to send him to school. Isaac began at Ndume Preschool under an acacia tree in 2010. In 2011, he enrolled in Ndonyo Wasin Primary School. Isaac’s best subject in school is mathematics—although it was not always his favorite. In Class 5, he was punished for not doing well in math and from that point on, he put in extra work to better and better—not wanted to disappoint himself or his family again.

Isaac also enjoys playing football, being a member of the Health Club and most of all drawing and painting pictures. Because of his love for drawing, Isaac would like to pursue a career as a structural engineer after high school and college. Isaac is a lovely young man, who is honest and talkative.
