Lolmingani Emanuel

Emanuel was born in 1995 and he achieved marks of 313 in his KCPE exams. He was third in his class. He comes from a traditional nomadic family in the Pareu area which is 40 kilometers from Ndonyo Wasin. He has 2 brothers who are traditional warriors and look after the family’s cows and goats and he has 2 older sisters who are married.

In 2002 a pre-school opened in Pareu for the first time. It was a nomadic preschool. Each preschool classroom is situated under a thorn tree, with a blackboard propped against the tree trunk. Emanuel’s father decided one of his children should live a modern life. He chose Emanuel who is his eldest son and he joined the preschool. He has enjoyed learning and he has always been in the top three of his class. His favorite subject is mathematics. He is also a great reader and spends a lot of his spare time in the library. He says his motto is “hard work pays off” and he is extremely pleased that his grade in his exams has qualified him for a place in the scholarship program.
