Romika Johnbosco

Johnbosco is a 16 year old boy from Nesesiai, a remote area of Samburu. His parents are nomadic pastoralists with 10 cows and 18 goats. Of the eight children in his family, John is the fifth born. Six of his siblings take care of the family’s cows and goats, only John and an older sister have gone to school. John started school at a nomadic preschool that had opened just a couple of kilometers from his home. It consisted of a blackboard propped against a large shady thorn tree and there he learned his numbers and ABCs. From there he joined Ndonyo Wasin primary school and in the 8 years he was there he proved himself to be resourcefuland motivated. He is always quick to help others and he is very committed to his success in life. He had marks of 251 in his KCPE examinations and we were delighted to offer him a chance to go to technical school. He wants to get a job as soon as possible so he can start to contribute to his family and help them lead a better life.
